Actress/Writer/Producer/Vegan JOANNE ROSE
Takes a Humorous Look at Her Vegan Lifestyle
Los Angeles – Award-winning Writer/Actor/Producer JOANNE ROSE takes eating healthy to a whole new level with her North American comedic web series VEGAN 101. The first vegan web series on the internet, received the Green Lifestyle Film Festival 2010 Green Apple Award in Los Angeles and a celebrity endorsement from US musician, Jane Wiedlin. The series theme song was created by John Richardson of US Alternative Rock Band, The Gin Blossoms. VEGAN 101 launched on the web television networks Koldcast.TV and comic actor Will Ferrell’s FunnyorDie.com and has partnered with YouTube.
Rose writes, produces and stars in the project. The first episode, Dating A Vegan was followed by episodes Veg Book, Happy Vegan Birthday, The Raw Experience and Vegan Potluck. Currently in the works The Theory of Vegan-ology, Confessions of a Vegan, Vegan Speed Dating, Diaries of a Vegan Gossip, The Vegan Personals, Miss Vegan of the World, The Kerri-Anne Kettle-Corn Show, Vegano, The Health Store, Lunchbox. VEGAN 101 screened at The Living Planet Vegan Expo 2010 in Sydney, Australia.
A vegan since she was a teen, Rose has plenty of material to draw upon for her niche web series. She hopes to inspire, educate and entertain everyone, especially non-vegans, with her new web series. Rose explains, “People love to laugh and be entertained, so it’s a way of informing others about veganism in a different light. I hope to achieve international success so the word ‘vegan’ becomes a strong part of global vocabulary, which will influence others to learn about the lifestyle through curiosity and fascination. With entertainment, people won’t shun away.”
Bringing the vegan way of life to the masses isn’t a new concept for Rose, Founder of Vegan Vision, an entertainment production company producing web series, television and feature films. Rose is author of the popular children’s book Tommy Tofu Saves The Day, and official spokes person for the Green Lifestyle Film Festival. She also appeared twice as a cover-girl for Natural Health & Vegetarian Life magazine and as a Lettuce Lady in a campaign for PETA. Rose began her career as a model in her native born Australia as a teen. She caught the acting bug while on vacation in California and has been working in film, television and stage ever since.
Rose is also adapting the web series for the stage, mounting a reading in Los Angeles this winter and then a full production in Los Angeles in 2011.
In addition, Rose appeared on Local Edition CNN HLN with Brad Pomerance and co-presented at the SMTV 3rd Anniversary Show alongside Emmy Award winners Cary Brown and Lionel Friedberg. She also performed in a comedic sketch at the closing ceremony with Debra Skelton, Billy McNamara and Will Ryan.
Rose is working on two more vegan themed books, Sammy and the Magic Soybean and Mandy Mungbean. And, Tommy Tofu appears in an episode of the award-winning animated series The Adventures of Rawman and GreenGirl by Gilmomedia.com
